Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host its final non-conference game against Savannah State, Monday night in Joel Coliseum. The match-up between the Demon Deacons and the Lady Tigers will be the first between the two teams. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Wake enters the game with a 10-4 overall mark and a 0-2 ACC record, while Savannah State holds a 2-7 overall mark. The Demon Deacons are coming off a tough 83-85 overtime loss to the University of Virginia. Against the Cavaliers, junior Cotelia Bond-Young put up a career-high and game-high 30 points, while Liz Strunk added 21 points. On the year, Bond-Young is averaging 16.1 points per game, while Strunk is not far behind with 14.7 per game.
In non-conference competition, Wake holds a 10-2 record, which includes victories over then-#15 Houston, East Carolina and Princeton. The last time Wake Forest performed that well out of the ACC was in the 1987-88 season, when the Demon Deacs had a 12-1 non-conference mark. That was also the last and only time that Wake took a trip to the NCAA tournament.
On the road, the Lady Tigers have an 0-3 record, while at home they boast a 2-7 mark. Leading the Tigers will be Kermetris Hill, who averages 15.1 points per game and 3.7 rebounds.
After Savannah State, the Demon Deacons will travel to Coral Gables, Fla., where they will face Miami in the third ACC game of the season.
