Greensboro, N.C. - Wake Forest field hockey player Lauren Crandall was named the ACC Player of the Week after putting up 10 points on three goals and four assists for the week ending Oct. 16.
Crandall started her week with a goal and three assists in the Demon Deacons' 6-1 win over Stanford on Monday. The junior from Doylestown, Pa., provided some late-game heroics in Wake Forest's 3-2 win over No. 4 North Carolina on Friday, assisting on the game-tying goal in the 66th minute, and then adding the game-winner in double overtime to send the Demon Deacons to the sudden-death win. Crandall capped her week by scoring a goal in Wake's 4-0 win over Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday.
Crandall becomes the fourth Wake Forest player to earn Player of the Week accolades this season, joining Haley Scott (Sept. 12), Christine Suggs (Sept. 19) and Kristina Gagliardi (Sept. 26).
The top-ranked Demon Deacons (14-0, 3-0 ACC), who boast an 18-game win streak dating back to last season, return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 19, when they will take on Radford in Winston-Salem at 7 p.m.
