Winston-Salem, N.C. - Former Wake Forest field hockey standout Kelly Doton was selected to the NCAA 25th Anniversary field hockey team, as announced by the organization.
Selected by the public, the team is a part of the year long 25th anniversary celebration of Division I and II field hockey. Eleven members from each Division I and III have been selected and will be honored at the 2005 Championships. In addition to Doton, four other Atlantic Coast Conference players were selected to the team.
Doton, who played for the Deacs from 2000-03, was a three-time All American, two-time ACC Player of the Year and the recipient of the 2003 Honda Award as the NFHCA National Player of the Year. She also helped lead the team to a pair of national championships.
Several NCAA women's championships are celebrating their 25th anniversaries during the 2005-06 season, and the NCAA will release 25th Anniversary Teams for those sports throughout the year.
