Raleigh, N.C. - Junior Lauren Peterson hit the match-high .476 off 13 kills, 21 attacks and three errors to lead the Wake Forest volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-20, 30-15, 30-21) victory over NC State, Friday night in Raleigh, N.C. The win is the sixth consecutive ACC victory for the Demon Deacons and ties the longest conference winning streak in program history.
Freshman Natalie Mullikin had a strong night for Wake with eight kills and four block assists, while freshman Shannan Homan also added four block assists. Senior Erin Borhart had 34 assists and Natasha Schaefer led defensively with 15 digs.
NC State got on the board first with a Wake Forest service error, but the Demon Deacons scored the next two points and never looked back. Not drawing closer than four the rest of the way, the Deacs took the first game, 30-20.
Wake Forest ran away with game two, sharpening its attack to .371 team attack percentage and shutting down NC State, 30-15. An extended intermission followed game two, caused by the coliseum lights going out, but Wake Forest hit .244 and took the third game and the match, 30-21.
The Demon Deacons improve to 14-9 overall and 7-7 in the conference and will next face North Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m.
