Women's Golf Finishes Seventeenth At NCAA Regional

Lubbock, Texas - The Wake Forest women's golf team finished 17th at the 2005 NCAA Central Regional on Saturday. The Deacons carded a third round 316 to finish with a team total 933 for the tournament. Christine Hallstrom led the Deacons with a three-day 229.
Freshman Laura Crawford offered scores of 76, 79 and 76 for a combined 231, her best total this spring and her best collegiate mark since a 216 at the ACC/SEC Challenge.
Sophomore Mandy Goins started strong on Saturday, with an eagle on the second hole. She would fire two more birdies but finish at eight-over for the round and 17-over for the tournament (233).
Sophomore Maggie Simons fired rounds of 77, 79 and 84.
Auburn took home both the team and individual titles. The Tigers finished 32-over for the weekend, paced by Diana Ramage's 212. Texas A&M, Missouri, Arizona State, Tulsa, Purdue, Michigan State and Arkansas will join Auburn and advance to the NCAA Championship in Sunriver, Ore., May 17-20.
