Hello again Deacon Fans,
Andy here saying happy Father's Day from Bourne, Mass. Things have been going pretty well. I received my job the other day and I have to say that I am very pleased with it. My job is to prepare the field on the mornings of our home games. I line the field, cut the infield grass, drag the infield and water the infield. It is not too taxing and I do not have to do it everyday which is nice.
Last Wednesday, some of the guys and myself decided to go to Boston to see the Red Sox play. Beau Mills is our third basemen and his father is the bench coach for the Sox so we got tickets about 20 rows behind homeplate at Fenway Park. It was no doubt the coolest place I have ever been to. After the game, we took a tour of the clubhouse and I actually met some Red Sox players like Keith Foulke, Edgar Renteria and David Ortiz. It was amazing.
As far as baseball goes, our team is struggling a little bit. We tied our first game, 1-1, because it was called on the count of darkness. I played second base in that game and went 1-for-3. I did not play in our home opener against Harwich and the team lost 8-3. Yesterday, we lost 3-0 in a pitcher's duel at Harwich.
It was 0-0 until the bottom of the 8th when Harwich got a bloop single, a walk and then a two-run double to take the lead. I again played second base and went 1-for-3.
It is very fun to play in front of so many people every night. There is not only an abundance of fans, but they also know their baseball. They cheer great plays even if the play comes from the opposing team. Today, we play at home against the Chatham A's.
Til next time -- Go Deacs
