Hello again from Bourne, Mass. The Bourne Braves are still hot after our slow start. We are currently in first place in the Western Division with a record of 11-6-1. I have started at shortstop the past three games and have played fairly well.
A new addition to my everyday life this week has been an old Sega Genesis. I realize that some of you fans may not know what this is. It is an 'ancient' video game system that I played constantly when I was 8 and 9 years old. The Aviles' (my host family) still have one in mint condition hooked up right in the basement (my room). I try to win the Stanley Cup every night in NHL '94 with, of course, the Pittsburgh Penguins. And, so far, I have managed to win the Cup each night that I have played.
I also had another surprise this week. My father, Dan, showed up on July 5th to watch us play Yarmouth-Dennis. I was shocked. He and my mother planned his trip, but kept it from me. When I was finished with my first round of BP, I turned around and saw my father standing right behind the backstop. It actually took a minute to register. He is staying until after our game on Friday evening at which time I will take him up to Boston to catch an early morning flight on Saturday.
Til next time -- Go Deacs
