Volleyball Hosts Black and Gold Challenge

Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team will look to extend its three game winning streak as the Demon Deacons host South Dakota State, Morehead State and Georgetown in the annual Black and Gold Challenge, Friday and Saturday in Reynolds Gymnasium.
The first match of the tournament will be Morehead State and South Dakota State, Friday at 5:00 p.m. Wake Forest will then face Georgetown at 7 p.m. The meeting between the Hoyas and the Deacs will be the first since the 2003 season when Wake Forest won, 3-0.
On Saturday, Morehead State and Georgetown will face off at 11:00 a.m. The Deacs will take the court in the second match of the day against South Dakota State at 1:00 p.m. The third match will be Georgetown and South Dakota State at 5 p.m. and the Deacs will close out the tournament at 7 p.m. against Morehead State.
Wake Forest enters the tournament coming off a strong weekend at the UTA Invitational where the Deacs won the tournament, defeating Texas Pan American, 3-0, Iowa, 3-0, and University of Arkansas Little Rock, 3-2. At the tournament, hosted by University of Texas-Arlington, junior Lauren Peterson led the Deacs with 43 kills and a team-high .333 hitting percentage earning a spot on the all-tournament team.
