Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team will open up ACC play this weekend on the road against Clemson and Georgia Tech. Facing the Tigers on Thursday night and the Yellow Jackets on Friday, the Demon Deacons will look to extend their six game winning streak.
The Demon Deacons enter the matches after a strong tournament season. Playing in three events, Wake Forest took the title in two and three players earned all-tournament honors. Sophomore Jackie Lucas, who currently leads the team with 42 blocks, was named to the Courtyard by Marriott Airport Classic All-Tournament team and the UTA Invitational team. At the Black and Gold Challenge last weekend, senior Christy Williams was named Most Valuable Player. Erin Borhart joined Williams on the all-tournament team.
Clemson leads the all-time series over Wake Forest, 17-9, and the two schools split the 2004 contests, with each winning on the other's home court. Against the Yellow Jackets, the Deacs trail in the all-time series, 18-6, and have fallen in the last 11 meetings.
