Winston-Salem, N.C. - On the strength of its 3-0 start, the Wake Forest men's tennis team is ranked 13th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, setting another school record for the highest ranking in program history. The Deacons were ranked 15th in the last poll, which was a record at the time.
"The ranking is a nice reward for our success. We've worked hard to get to this point, but we're going to have to work harder to reach our ultimate goals," head coach Jeff Zinn said. "Being ranked in the top 15 puts a big target on our back. People are going to be gunning for us."
"It's great to earn our highest ranking of all-time, but it doesn't mean anything right now," assistant coach Andrew Simpson said. "We want to hit our peak in June when it really matters. That being said, it's nice to know that our program is headed in the right direction."
The Deacons are one of four ACC teams ranked in the top 25.
Following three home wins to start the season, Wake Forest hits the road for its next five matches, four of which are against nationally-ranked foes. The first is Saturday at 65th-ranked William & Mary.
