Women's Basketball Hosts NC State

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team returns to Joel Coliseum to host its first ACC basketball game of the season against NC State, Saturday, Jan. 7 at 3 p.m.
The Demon Deacons are looking to earn their first ACC victory of the year and the first over the Wolfpack at home since the 1995-96 season. In 2005, Wake Forest fell in both contests, with the last meeting a 64-61 loss in Joel Coliseum.
Wake enters the game coming off a tough 100-54 loss to No. 2/2 Duke. Against the Blue Devils, freshman Deirdre Naughton scored the team-high 15 points and pulled down five rebounds. On the year, Naughton has scored in double figures each game but one and currently averages 12.5 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game.
The Wolfpack comes to Winston-Salem riding a four game winning streak that most recently includes a 65-44 victory over Virginia Tech. NC State is led by sophomore Khadija Whittington, who is averaging 8.5 rebounds per game and is currently on a five-game double figure scoring streak. Senior Tiffany Stansbury leads the team in scoring with an average of 14.8 points per game, while Billie McDowell and Ashley Key are not far behind with 10.8 ppg and 10.7 ppg.
