Wake Forest, ranked 20th, was led by sophomore Dustin Groves and junior Chris McCartin, both of whom shot 3-over par 75 today and are tied for 39th. Freshman Brendan Gielow played the final six holes 2-under par, helping to overcome an uncharacteristic stretch of three double-bogies in four holes. Gielow finished the day with a 5-over 77.
Sophomore Marc Gladson, who had a wild front nine of 41 that included just one par, shot an 8-over 80 today. Senior Sean Moore bogied four of the final five holes en route to an 11-over 83.
The second round is scheduled for Monday and the final 18 holes come on Tuesday.
