Wake Forest vs. James Madison
November 11, 2006
Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser
On the game in general
"James Madison really played well. Down 13 in the first half, I thought to how we cut it to two baskets at halftime was really important. We got a lot of positives out of the game tonight. The biggest disappointment to us was that they shot the ball so well. We guarded them in the second half better than we did in the first. For young guys, defense is usually what comes last, it takes repetitions.
On L.D. Williams
"LD Williams was a good defender for us tonight, but he was helping at times when he didn't have to. I'm really happy for Kyle Visser and Mike Drum, they played well for us today.
On Harvey Hale
"He shot the ball really, really well in the preseason. He didn't shoot well against (NC) Central. It's good that he got 19 in the second half. We needed everyone of them."
On Ishmael Smith
"I really like this team. Ish has an insatiable appetite to learn more than any point guard I've been around."
James Madison Head Coach Dan Keener
On the game in general
"I feel like our effort was very good tonight. I told our kids after the game that there is no such thing as a moral victory. I think we competed at a level that I was unsure about due to the newness of our kids. Starting a freshman point guard and having new guys in the rotation, you're just not sure what you're going to get. But at the end of the day, we didn't win and we're 0-1. We really have to work on both sides of the ball. (Wake's) overplay defense really took us out of anything we wanted to do in our halfcourt offense. We didn't react as well as we needed to. On the defensive end, we allowed too many easy baskets. Visser was in foul trouble in the first half, but then we allowed him to come back in the second half and go 10-of-10 from the floor. You just can't allow that."
