Wake Forest will go where no ACC team has gone before when the Demon Deacons play at Bucknell Tuesday night in Lewisburg, Pa. (Comcast/Fox Sports South, 7 p.m.).
The Demon Deacons, 1-0, opened the season last Saturday with a 91-82 win over visiting James Madison. Senior center Kyle Visser and freshman point guard Ishmael Smith both broke Wake Forest records and Harvey Hale scored all 19 of his points in the second half as the Deacons erased a four-point halftime deficit.
Visser scored a career-high 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds and broke a Wake Forest single-game record for field goal percentage by going a perfect 10-of-10 from the field. Smith dished out 11 assists, breaking the Deacon freshman record previously held by Chris Paul and two other players.
Bucknell, 0-1, opened its season on the road with a 55-49 loss at defending America East Conference champion Albany. Bucknell, which has won the last two Patriot League titles, led Albany by 15 at the half.
Junior guard John Griffin scored 19 points and sophomore guard Jason Vegotsky added 13 points for the Bison.
Tuesday's game marks the first time an ACC team has played Bucknell in Lewisburg. Wake Forest leads the all-time series, 2-0, and Tuesday's game will be the first meeting since 1991.
