GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest junior center Steve Justice has been selected as the ACC's Offensive Lineman of the Week for the second time this season, the league announced on Monday. Justice is the first repeat winner of that award in 2006.
In Wake Forest's 21-14 win against 16th-ranked Boston College, Justice played every snap for the Deacons. He matched up against the Eagles' 340-pound defensive tackles all day and graded out at 96 percent. The junior from Port Orange, Fla., recorded six knockdown blocks and no missed assignments. Saturday's performance marked Justice's sixth 90-percent day of the season.
Justice, a candidate for post-season awards and honors, has played 515 out of a possible 521 snaps this year. His season grade is 90.5 percent to go with 42 knockdown blocks and only one missed assignment.
Justice is one of five Deacons to earn weekly ACC honors this season and one of three multiple week winners. Offensive tackle Steve Vallos was the ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week following Wake Forest's season-opening win against Syracuse. Quarterback Riley Skinner was the ACC Rookie of the Week after the win against Duke. Justice was the ACC's Offensive Lineman of the Week after the Ole Miss and Boston College victories. Sophomore punter/placekicker Sam Swank earned ACC Specialist of Week honors three straight weeks, after the Liberty, Clemson and NC State games. Senior safety Josh Gattis picked up Defensive Back of the Week honors for performances against NC State and North Carolina.
The 18th-ranked Demon Deacons (8-1, 4-1 ACC) are off to their best start since 1944. Wake Forest travels to Tallahassee to play Florida State on Saturday night at Doak Campbell Stadium. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
