Bio
Swank's Collegiate Bio The most decorated placekicker in Wake Forest history, Sam Swank is in his second season on the Demon Deacon coaching staff in 2013 as a graduate assistant for defense. Swank, who played as both a placekicker and a punter for the Deacons from 2005-08, played a pivotal role in Wake Forest reaching three-straight bowl games for the first time in school history. He was named the 2006 ACC Championship Game MVP after accounting for all of Wake Forest's points in a 9-6 win over Georgia Tech that gave the Deacons their first conference title since 1970 and played for the Deacs in the 2007 FedEx Orange Bowl, the 2007 Meineke Car Care Bowl and the 2008 EagleBank Bowl. In recognition of his efforts during that magical 2006 season, Swank was named a first-team All-American by three publications and a first-team All-ACC selection, in addition to earning honorable mention All-ACC honors as a punter. Swank is Wake Forest's all-time scoring leader with 337 points and also holds the school records for career field goals made (71), career PATs made (125), most consecutive PATs made (121), single-season field goals made (23) and single-season PATs made (44). Known for his powerful leg, Swank kicked both the longest field goal (53 yards) and longest punt (86 yards) in school history. Following his Wake Forest career, Swank was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent and also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars organizations as well as the Hartford Colonials of the UFL. Swank graduated from Wake Forest in 2008. He is married to his wife, Michelle.
