WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team travels to Raleigh, N.C. looking to pick up its third conference victory and to crack a five-game losing streak against NC State, Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
Wake Forest has already faced NC State this season and emerged victorious, 65-64. The win marked the first time since the 1995-96 season that the Deacs have defeated the Pack in Winston-Salem. The last time the Demon Deacons swept the Wolfpack was also in 1995-96 when Wake Forest defeated NC State 76-72 at home and then 75-64 in Raleigh.
So far in 2006, NC State has compiled a 3-6 overall record in the ACC that has included wins over Miami, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Pack, who most recently fel to Florida State, 75-61, is currently on a three-game conference losing streak. The Pack is led by All-ACC selection Tiffany Stansbury, who currently averages 13.5 points per game and 7.4 rebounds per game. Backing her up are starters Billie McDowell, Ashley Key and Khadija Whittington, who are also all averaging in double digits.
