Wake Forest Volleyball Announces 2006 Schedule

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team will participate in three tournaments and play 22 Atlantic Coast Conference matches in the 2006 season, as announced Tuesday by head volleyball coach Heather Kahl Holmes.
The Demon Deacons will open their season by traveling to the Colorado State Tournament where they will face Colorado State, Florida Atlantic and James Madison, Sept. 1-2. The following weekend, Wake Forest will go to the Dayton University Tournament with LSU, Indiana and Dayton.
The third and final tournament will be the annual Black and Gold Challenge, hosted by Wake Forest. At the tournament, the Deacs will welcome Winthrop, George Washington and Davidson.
From there, the Deacs will jump right into the conference season where they will host 11 home matches and travel for 11. The Deacs will open at home with Georgia Tech and Clemson before hitting the road for a mid-week contest with North Carolina. Playing one more game on the road against NC State, the Deacs will return to Reynolds Gym to host five consecutive matches before finishing the first half of the ACC schedule on the road against Florida State and Miami
In the second half of the ACC season, the Demon Deacons will play seven road matches and four at home. Concluding the season with Florida State and Miami on Nov. 21 and 22, the Demon Deacons will look for their first NCAA Tournament bid.
The Demon Deacons closed out the 2005 season with a 17-14 overall record and a 10-12 conference mark. The 10 conference victories tied the program's record for the most ACC wins in a single season.
