WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's basketball players Deirdre Naughton and Tiara Good have announced their intentions to transfer at the end of the school year, as confirmed by head coach Mike Petersen, Wednesday.
Naughton, a freshman from Winnetka, Ill., was twice named the ACC Rookie of the Week and was selected to the ACC All-Freshman team. She scored in double figures every game except two and led the team in scoring over ACC games. In addition, Naughton set the Wake Forest freshman record for most points in a single game with 37 against Savannah State, which is also the third most points ever in a single game.
"I am very thankful to Coach Petersen, his staff and the entire Wake Forest community for giving me the opportunity to play here," said Naughton. "I wish them all continued success in the future."
Good, a redshirt sophomore, played in 34 career games and averaged 2.1 points per game. Good also recorded a .643 free throw percentage and pulled down 35 rebounds in her two years on the court.
"I wish both Deirdre and Tiara the best and I hope they have success both academically and athletically as they continue their careers," Petersen said. "I would like to thank them for the contributions that they have each made while here at Wake Forest."
The Demon Deacons finished the 2005-06 campaign with a 12-16 overall record and 3-11 mark in the ACC.
