Senior Kyle Reifers is one of the most successful and consistent players in recent Wake Forest history. This week, Reifers and his teammates will compete for the NCAA Championship in Sunriver, Oregon. Reifers is keeping a blog for WakeForestSports.com
Monday night - Webb (Simpson) is funny and he makes a normally boring banquet into a comedy show. After the banquet, we loaded up into our extremely granola conversion van and headed back to our bungalow. After a few text messages and checking the basketball score, it's time for bed.
Tuesday -- Today we had an early morning. We were first off at 8 a.m., so, we woke up a little after 6 and cruised over to have breakfast. It was delicious, but a little disappointing that they didn't have bacon. We hopped back in our dented van and arrived at the course safely (not always a given with coach's driving skills).
The old guys (Doug and I) went in and got stretched out by the trainers and we were ready to venture into the wilderness. After a few shanks and a couple of whiffs we were ready to tee it up. It was brisk but beautiful. I decided to take my camera and I think that's the best move I have made all week.
We made the turn without any injuries, which was nice, so I decided to just play 9 and practice. The team went on and played the back nine. We then rendezvoused in the clubhouse for what most of the team thought was the best Club sandwich we have ever had. After a delicious meal on the patio we were off to the range again. We had a good practice session and headed back to the lodge.
After a little time to relax, we piled into the dented up, one speaker, door broken, light on granola van and went into the town of Bend for dinner. We had a romantic team dinner outside on the river and we were off. We stopped by the Albertson's so I could pick up my nutrition bars and got back in the hot rod and headed back to our rooms.
I am going to get my bag ready and mentally prepare for tomorrow. It will be an early morning. We are the first tee time at 7:30. We are all very relaxed and are ready to go. It's a long tournament so the best will come to the top...If you are interested in following the results, it's online at golfstat.com.
Prediction- A golf team will win the NCAA tournament.
