GREENSBORO, N.C. - Former Wake Forest tennis player Liron Strauss was selected to the 2006 Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, the league announced on Tuesday.
Strauss graduated in May with a degree in political science. To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
On the court, the native of Tel Aviv, Israel, went 17-7 in singles as a senior, including an NCAA dual win against Kentucky and a pair of victories against the ACC's number six singles flight champion. Strauss recorded a 4-2 record against ACC opponents and went 10-4 in all dual matches. In doubles, he posted a 6-2 mark. The leadership of Strauss, one of the team's three seniors, was instrumental in helping Wake Forest qualify for the NCAA Tournament for the sixth straight year.
