Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser
On the game:
"I take my hat off to Carolina. Certainly in the second half, they played really, really well."
On Wake's low field goal percentage:
"I have to give them the credit. We missed a lot of open looks. They weren't guarding us at the foul line, that I can remember, and we shot worse there than we did from the field. I really give them the credit."
On Joel Coliseum atmosphere:
"Students aren't our problem. The fans aren't our problem. Nineteen turnovers, 30 some percent from the field, 31% from the foul line, certainly allows Carolina to get out in transition. That's our problem. I think our students were fine. I think our crowd was fine. It's up to us to get the crowd going, and we did it in the first half and we didn't in the second half."
Wake Forest freshman Jamie Skeen
On the difference between the first half and the second half:
"We came out with a lot of intensity in the first half and kept it close but we came out flat in the second."
On failing to stop Carolina's offense in the second half:
"Usually we'll call a time out when they are scoring and try to get a run of our own but we just could not spark up a fire."
On the physical play of the UNC front court:
"I was able to box out (Tyler) Hansbrough and (Brandan) Wright at the same time so it was not as hard as I thought it was going to be, but they are pretty good guys.
Wake Forest senior Kyle Visser
On the game:
You have to give Carolina credit, they played good defense in the second half. I think we showed some good things. I think we showed some good things still lost by 28 but we showed some good things. We are taking some positive steps and I think we played pretty hard.
North Carolina Head Coach Roy Williams
On the game:
"We feel very good about a road win in the ACC as you always should. The first 10-12 minutes in the second half we played pretty well offensively, and we had been struggling. We didn't do a very good job on the backboards in the first half, but we did a much better job in the second. We were lucky that they missed a couple of shots that they would normally make. The only discouraging thing is the 19 turnovers to only 17 assists. To tell you how good of a coach I am, we had planned on cutting down on turnovers and force them to have more. We feel good about having five guys in double figures and getting a win on the road in the ACC."
If Ty Lawson was frustrated at halftime:
"I did not sense any frustration level. He's pretty poker faced about those things. I did tell him that since he's well rested he should have a big half. He can shoot the basketball. Sometimes he looks past that, but he shouldn't ignore his open shots. I did tell him that we needed a big half out of him. If that's all it takes then I'm going to tell him that every game."
On Ishmael Smith's foul trouble:
"I thought it was big. He penetrates so well and puts so much pressure on you, it's hard to simulate in practice. One of the big things we tried to work on was stopping that, and we didn't do a very good job of that tonight. I do think it was a huge factor in the game."
