Wake Forest Head Coach Skip Prosser
On the game...
"Georgia Tech is a tough team. You knew they were going to make a run in the second half. In many ways, it's gratifying that when they cut it to three a couple times in the second half that we had the wherewithal to show pretty good patience on offense. We took some good shots and hit our foul shots. I have nothing but respect for their team. They're a very talented team and very well coached, so it was a good win for us."
On the play of sophomore Harvey Hale...
"We traditionally have been a team that scores from the off-guard position, and this year we haven't been. It's been sort of a revolving door. Harvey made some big, `stop-the-bleeding' shots in the second half. He was also 9-or-10 from the foul line. He was really big for us."
On the importance of the bench...
"I thought those kids did what they needed to do when they were in there. That was probably the most David (Weaver) has played for us all year. I thought he was active and a live body in there. If (Kyle) Visser fouls out we're really scrambling, but I thought Weaver was important for us.
"He's a freshman, and this is all new to him. (His development) is absolutely essential for us to win, and not just him but everyone. We stopped the bleeding by hitting some big shots and hitting our free throws, which we haven't done in the past."
Georgia Tech Head Coach Paul Hewitt
On the game in general...
"Skip's team, I felt they hung in there. We started out pretty well. That is something we haven't done well this year. We started the game off strong. We just had that one stretch in the first half where we took some bad shots, turned it over and didn't guard. We fought and we put out a great effort."
On Kyle Visser...
"Obviously he's having a great year. He's one of the best players in the conference."
On being down at halftime...
"We felt like we had to get the ball inside and we did a better job of that in the second half. We got a seven point lead there in the first half, 5 or 6 or 7, something like that and just started rushing some things and took some ill-advised shots."
On Kyle's foul trouble and David Weaver coming into the game...
"He (David Weaver) did a very good job for them, scoring seven points and getting five rebounds. But Visser was obviously tremendous tonight."
Wake Forest Player Quotes
Freshman David Weaver
On the rest of the season...
"I just try to take it one game at a time. Coach said we are starting the season over. We play against Maryland on Saturday, and we are going to try to win to go 2-0 and keep on rolling off wins. We are doing extra work, and I am going to continue that too."
Senior Kyle Visser
On the win...
"It's a good win for us, but we've got a lot more games to play, and hopefully we'll win our share of them."
On the contribution from the bench...
"The bench did a good job of maintaining the lead and not letting them get back into it. I thought I got some stupid fouls which were my fault. I have to stay away from that because in the end that could have bit us in the butt a little bit."
Freshman Ishmael Smith
On Kyle Visser...
"Kyle (Visser) is the ultimate warrior. There is not one game he's let us down. It's time for us to turn this thing around for Kyle and for Michael (Drum)."
