NEW YORK, N.Y. - Jill Hutchinson was named to the Soccer Buzz National Elite Team of the Week for third time this season for her game-winning goal in Wake Forest's 3-2 upset over No. 10 Florida State last Thursday.
The sophomore forward scored the equalizing goal at the 60:58 mark and after a 45-minute delay due to inclement weather, she netted the game-winner with less than a minute remaining in regulation. Teammate Ashley Burney sent a cross to Hutchinson, whose first shot was blocked, but she was able to grab the rebound and send the ball to the back in the net.
Hutchinson also earned a place on the Soccer Buzz team for goals against Brown and West Virginia in Week 4 and clutch goals vs. Louisville and UNC Greensboro in Week 3.
The Wayne, Pa. native is currently the leading Demon Deacon striker and with 10 goals for the season, is in position to set a new single season scoring record. After last week's two goals Hutchinson is tied at fourth place with Joline Charlton who posted 10 goals in 1999. Liz Burnette (1996) and Sarah Kozey (2004) hold the top record, each posting 12 goals in their respected seasons.
The Demon Deacons return to ACC play this Thursday as they play NC State in Raleigh at 4 p.m.
