LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - If the Wake Forest women's soccer team has ever heard of the "sophomore slump" they sure don't show it. Demon Deacon sophomores Kaley Fountain and Allie Sadow continued to pick up post-season honors over the weekend.
Fountain, a defender out of Austin, Texas, was named to the ACC All-Tournament team for her game-winning goal in Wake Forest's 1-0 overtime win over Duke on Wednesday night. The clutch score was Fountain's first of the season.
Fountain leads Wake Forest in assists with seven for the year and has helped post seven shutouts from the Demon Deacon backline. The Texas native has played in every game this season and was recently recognized with All-ACC honors of her powerful performance in 2007.
Allie Sadow, from Austin, Texas, was recognized late last week for her performance on the field and in the classroom with a spot on the ESPN Academic All-America District III Third Team. Sadow has played in all 21 of the Demon Deacon matches this season, posting five goals and four assists overall. The forward was named to the 2006-07 ACC Honor Roll and has continued to excel in her studies throughout the season.
The Demon Deacons are in the midst of their post season journey and are currently awaiting the NCAA Selection Show, set to take place on Monday at 8 p.m. on ESPNews.
