Coin Toss: Wake Forest won the toss and deferred to the second half. Vanderbilt kicked off.

Josh Adams

  • Josh Adams scored two touchdowns, on a 14-yard run in the first quarter and on a 12 yard return in the third quarter. The extended Adams' school record for touchdowns by a redshirt freshman to 11 and rushing touchdowns by a redshirt freshman to 10.
  • It was the first time Adams rushed for two touchdowns in a game. His only other two-touchdown game was against Florida State when he had one rushing and one receiving.
  • Adams rushed for 100 yards for the third time this season. He finished the game with 111 yards.

Kevin Marion ties season KOR record

  • Kevin Marion had an 81-yard kickoff return to start the second half. It was the fourth kickoff return of at least 80 yards for Marion this season.

  • 81 vs. Vanderbilt
  • 80 vs. Navy
  • Marion increased his career KOR yardage to 2,160 yards.
  • With two kickoff returns, Marion set the school record for career returns. He now has 88 career kickoff returns.

Alphonso Smith Sets Season Interception Mark

  • Alphonso Smith made two interceptions for Wake Forest. The interceptions were his seventh and eighth of the year.
  • With eight interceptions, Smith set a school record for interceptions in a season. The previous mark of seven was set by A.J. Greene in 1987.
  • Smith now has 14 career interceptions which is the third-highest career total in school history.

Miscellaneous Notes

  • TE Ben Wooster made his first career touchdown catch with 4:42 to play in the second quarter.
  • De'Angelo Bryant's 8-yard touchdown catch was the second TD catch of his career. Bryant caught his first career TD pass last week against N.C. State.
  • Sam Swank punted a season-high nine times.

With the Wake Forest Win

  • The Deacons completed the regular season with an 8-4 overall record.
  • It is the first time in school history that Wake Forest has won 8 or more games in consecutive years.

  • Head coach Jim Grobe's record at Wake Forest improved to 45-39.

Sam Swank Hits Century Mark

  • Wake Forest placekicker Sam Swank booted his 100th career PAT with 0:21 to play in the first quarter. Swank is just the second Deacon to collect 100+ PATs during his career, joining Wilson Hoyle (1986-89), the career record holder with 119 PATs.
  • Swank finished the game with 4 PATs and one field goal. He increased his career totals to 103 PATs and 59 field goals and his career scoring total to 280 points.
