On Monday, Nov. 12 in St. Augustine, Florida, former Wake Forest golfer and PGA stand-out Curtis Strange was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
While Curtis won 17 times on the tour and in 1988 became the first to earn more than $1 million in a single season, he's most famous for becoming the first payer since Ben Hogan in 1950-51 to win back-to-back U.S. Opens.
Curtis played at Wake Forest from 1974-76 and was first-team All-American all three years. During that time the Deacs won three ACC Championships and back-to-back National Championships. In the 1974 NCAA Championship final round, Strange sunk an eagle putt on the 18th hole to put Wake Forest in position to win the title.
Curtis continues to help Wake Forest succeed on the golf course by giving back to his alma mater. He recently established the Curtis N. Strange Golf Scholarship Fund with a gift of $750,000.
Thank you, Curtis, for your generous support of Wake Forest Golf and congratulations on your induction to the World Golf Hall of Fame.
