WBB Hosts NC Central in Exhibition Action

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will wrap up exhibition play on Wednesday night as it hosts North Carolina Central at the Joel Coliseum at 7 p.m.
In Wake Forest's opening preseason contest, the Demon Deacons downed Anderson College 67-50 in Winston-Salem. Sophomore center Mekia Valentine led the Deacon offensive charge with 19 points through her 19 minutes of play while sophomore guards Tiffany Rouhlac and Courtney Morris stepped up on the defensive end to force six Anderson turnovers a piece.
The NC Central Eagles also took a win in their first exhibition match-up, posting a 44-36 win over Virginia State in Durham, N.C. Katania Walker was the scoring leader for NC Central with 10 points in the contest, followed by Taneisha White who put up 8 points.
In the 2006-07 season the Eagles took the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tournament title for only the second time in the program's history and first time under the 10-year tenure of head coach Joli Robinson.
Wednesday's match will be the final prelude to the Demon Deacon 2007-08 regular season opener with USC Upstate on Tuesday, November 13 at the Joel Coliseum. Tip off is set for 7 p.m.
