Moore Sets ACC Receptions Records, Earns MVP Honors
- Senior WR Kenneth Moore was named the Meineke Car Care Bowl MVP. Moore finished the day with 11 catches for 112 yards.
- With his second catch of the game, Moore set the ACC record for receptions in a season. He had 11 catches against UConn and finished with 98 catches on the season.
- Moore broke Torry Holt's previous ACC record of 88, set in 1998.
More Records From Moore
- Kenneth Moore also set the school record for all-purpose yards in a season. He had 169 yards in the game and finished with 1,854 for the season. The previous record was 1,747 yards set by Fabian Davis in 2002.
- Moore set the Meineke Car Care Bowl with 11 receptions. The previous mark was seven by North Carolina's Derrele Mitchell in 2004.
- Moore also destroyed the Wake Forest bowl record for receptions. The previous best was six, set by Wayne Baumgardner in the 1979 Tangerine Bowl and tied by Willie Idlette in last season's Orange Bowl.
- Moore eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving mark for the season, finishing with 1,011, but fell short of Ricky Proehl's school record of 1,053 set in 1989. Moore is just the third Deacon to have 1,000+ receiving yards in a season.
Alphonso Smith Pulls Double Duty
- Cornerback Alphonso Smith saw the first offensive snaps of his career. Smith made his first career catch early in the first quarter when he lined up at wide receiver and caught a 12-yard pass from Riley Skinner.
- Smith finished the day with three catches for 13 yards.
Deacons Shut Out in First Half
- Wake Forest was shut out in the first half for the first time this season. Wake's lowest first half point total was previously 3 vs. Maryland, Sept. 22.
- The last time the Deacons failed to score in the first half was Sept. 9, 2007, against Duke. Wake also trailed 10-0 in that game but came back to win 14-13.
- The Deacs were held scoreless in consecutive quarters for the first time since the Army game on Sept. 15 (scoreless in the second half).
Andrews, Tereshinski End Careers With Touchdowns
- Seniors Micah Andrews and John Tereshinski both finished their collegiate careers with touchdowns.
- Andrews scored on a nine-yard run with 29 second remaining the in game. The touchdown carry, which proved to be the final carry of Andrews' career, sealed the win for Wake Forest.
- John Tereshinski also scored on the final time he touched the ball. Tereshinski caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Riley Skinner in the third quarter. It was his second touchdown catch of the year. The other was the game-tying catch in the fourth quarter against Maryland on Sept. 22.
Skinner Sets Bowl Records for Completions and Yards
- Riley Skinner's career-high 29 completions broke both the Meineke Car Care Bowl record and the Wake Forest bowl game record.
- The previous Meineke Car Care Bowl record was 24 by Boston College's Paul Peterson in 2004. Skinner broke his own Wake Forest bowl record for completions. He had 21 completions in last season's FedEx Orange Bowl.
- Skinner also set the Meineke Car Care Bowl record for most passing yards with 268, breaking the previous mark of 259 set by UNC's Darian Durant in 2004.
Arnoux Leads Defensive Effort
- Junior LB Stanley Arnoux finished the day with a team-high 8 tackles, including six solo.
- Arnoux picked off a Tyler Lorenzen pass in the third quarter. It his second interception of the season and the third of his career.
- Arnoux also had a pass breakup, a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
Swank Breaks Wake Forest's PATs Record
- Sam Swank set the school record for PATs in a season. He kicked two extra points against UConn to finish the year with 43. The previous record was 41 set by Wilson Hoyle in 1986.
UConn's Taylor Returns Punt for Touchdown
- Larry Taylor had a 68-yard punt return for UConn in the first quarter. It was the first punt return for a touchdown allowed by Wake Forest since Nov. 20, 2004 when Rashaun Jones of Miami scored on a blocked punt.
Late Addition to Deacon Family
- Kristin Lobotzke, the wife of Wake Forest offensive coordinator Steed Lobotzke, gave birth to a daughter Gia Maria at 10:58 p.m. on Friday in Winston-Salem. Coach Lobo returned to Charlotte about 1:30 a.m. this morning.
Miscellaneous
- Wake Forest held an opponent without an offensive touchdown for the first time since the ACC Championship game on Dec. 2, 2006. The Deacs held Georgia Tech to just three field goals in that contest.
- Riley Skinner posted his 18th win as Wake Forest's starting quarterback, tying Mike Elkins' school record set from 1985-88.
- Wake Forest finished the year 3-3 when trailing at halftime.
- Demir Boldin's 38-yard catch in the third quarter was his longest reception since 2005.
- Kenneth Moore extended his string of consecutive games with a reception to 21.
- Donald Brown's 58-yard run for UConn in the second quarter was the longest against Wake Forest since Re'Quan Boyette of Duke ran 62 yards on Oct. 6, 2007.
- Wake Forest's game captains were seniors C Steve Justice, WR Kenneth Moore and DE Jeremy Thompson.

- Wake Forest finishes the season 9-4 overall.
- The Deacons improve to 5-3 in bowl games and posted their first win since the 2002 Seattle Bowl.
- Head Coach Jim Grobe is 46-39 in his seventh season at Wake Forest and 79-72-1 in his 13th season overall as a head coach.
- Wake Forest improves to 2-1 all-time against Connecticut.
- The Deacs posted their second win of the season against a ranked opponent.
