Postgame Quotes
Wake Forest vs. Winston-Salem State
Wake Forest head coach Skip Prosser
On Winston-Salem State's performance...
"I tip my hat off to Coach (Bobby) Collins. Despite their record, they really compete. Brian Fisher had 18 points at the half. We talked a lot about that to our kids at halftime. We didn't want another J.R. Reynolds situation, especially in our own building. I give a lot of credit to Coach Collins and those kids and what they have been through and how resilient they have shown themselves to be."
On the consistency of the offense...
"You would like to have two or three guys who you can put down for 14 and eight every night. We have been so inconsistent individually which has led to our collective inconsistence which is maddening at times."
On what he likes about the Demon Deacons at this point in the season...
"They are really a good bunch of kids who continue to compete, much maligned and not without reason. They come to practice everyday with spirit and enthusiasm. They have a genuine desire to improve. I like that about us."
On the Demon Deacons-Rams match-up...
"I am a big believer in this game. I think it is something that can be really good for our city. Many of my colleagues question my sanity on a lot of things, but especially this game. This is my hometown now, and I think it's a good thing for Winston-Salem."
Winston-Salem State Head Coach Bobby Collins
On the game in general...
"Well, I thought this rivalry was good for our city. Our guys were totally focused, and I thought my coaches did a very good job of preparing us for this game. I've never seen our guys so focused and so wanting to win. I told them if they gave the maximum effort then we would definitely have a maximum effort to win this game, and I felt that we laid it on the floor early and made some good shots and got some big stops, but obviously you have to play this game for forty minutes. This is a very special group. I've never been a part of a group like this. "
On the hardest part of the season...
"I knew how difficult the travel was going to be and it has been a great experience. This year I think the travel alone has been the toughest part."
Wake Forest Player Quotes
Freshman Jamie Skeen
On Wake's second-half defense...
"It makes me feel very good, and it makes me feel like we have been working very hard in practice. We practice defense all the time, especially transition defense."
On Wake's inside presence...
"We definitely tried to dominate inside since their tallest post player is like 6-5 or 6-6. We wanted to pound it inside and try to crash the boards as much as possible."
Freshman L.D. Williams
On Wake's second-half defense...
"It makes me feel great. Winston-Salem State is a great shooting team. (Brian) Fisher and (Darius) Floyd are great athletes. For us to play defense against guards like that I think really helped us out."
On what was talked about at halftime...
"Coach came in the locker room and he was really, really angry. We really didn't want them to shoot as well against us this year as they did last year, so we really harped on that at halftime."
