Wake Forest to Host Spring Tournament on Saturday

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest volleyball team will host the first of its two spring tournaments this Saturday at Reynolds Gymnasium. The tournament will consist of two five-team pools with round-robin play beginning at 9 a.m.
Pool A includes East Carolina, High Point, NC State, Radford and Wake Forest. Pool B includes Appalachian State, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina, UNC Greensboro and Virginia Tech.
Each team will play two rally-scoring games to 30 points against each of its pool opponents. Matches are scheduled on two courts at a time from 9 a.m. through 5:40 p.m.
The Demon Deacons will open the day against East Carolina at 9:50 a.m. Wake's second match is at 1:30 p.m. against High Point.
Wake Forest will then face Radford at 4 p.m. before wrapping up the day with ACC-rival NC State at 5:40 p.m.
"We are excited to be hosting the tournament this weekend," said head coach Heather Kahl Holmes. "It should be a very competitive tournament all around. I know the team is always excited to compete.
"Spring tournaments are a great way to try new lineups, gain experience and to focus on certain areas of our game. It is a good way to gauge where we are at and what areas of the game we need to spend more time on."
Admission to the tournament is free of charge.
The Deacons are coming off a 5-3 showing at Duke's spring tournament last Saturday in Durham. Wake swept Appalachian State and NC State and split with North Carolina.
Wake Forest is back in action on April 5 with a play-date against Winthrop starting at 6 p.m. at Reynolds Gym. The Deacs will wrap up the spring by hosting a second tournament on Saturday, April 14.
