It's Deacons, Yellow Jackets In ACC Tournament First Round

Wake Forest, fresh off an upset win over Virginia on Saturday, will play Georgia Tech Thursday night in the opening round of the ACC Tournament at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa (approximately 9:20 p.m./Raycom-Lincoln Financial TV). The compete ACC Tournament bracket is attached.
The Demon Deacons, 14-15 overall and 5-11 in the ACC, are the 11th seed. Georgia Tech, 20-10 and 8-8, is seeded 6th.
Wake Forest enters the ACC Tournament after beating Virginia, 78-72, Saturday in Winston-Salem. Georgia Tech is on a roll, upsetting North Carolina Thursday, then beating Boston College on Sunday. Georgia Tech earned the tournament's #7 seed after holding the tie-breaker with Duke, also 8-8 in the ACC.
The winner of Thursday night's game will advance to Friday's quarterfinals, where it will play No. 3 seed Virginia Tech at approximatley 9:20 p.m.
Every game in the tournament will be broadcast on the ISP/Wake Forest Radio Network.
Wake Forest and Georgia Tech split two meetings this season. The Deacons won in Winston-Salem, 85-75. The Yellow Jackets won in Atlanta on Feb. 21, 75-61.
The Deacons and Yellow Jackets have met in the ACC Tournament three times. Wake Forest has won all three previous meetings. The two teams last met in the ACC Tournament in 2002 when Wake Forest beat Georgia Tech in the quarterfinals. The Deacons beat Georgia Tech in the championship game of the 1996 ACC Tournament in Greensboro.
Tampa is hosting the ACC Tournament for the first time.
North Carolina and Virginia tied for the ACC regular season title. The Tar Heels get the No. 1 seed and the Cavaliers the No. 2 seed. Virginia Tech is the No. 3 seed and Boston College No. 4. Those four teams get a first-round bye and will not play until Friday.
