Wake Forest senior Kyle Visser, who more than tripled his scoring average from a year ago, was named third team All-Atlantic Coast Conference, the league office announced today.

At least one Demon Deacon has earned All-ACC honors 10 consecutive seasons and in 17 out of the last 18 seasons. Visser's selection, however, marks the first time since 1990 that Wake Forest has not placed a player on the first or second team.

Visser, a three-time Academic All-ACC selection, is one of only two players in the ACC ranked in the top 10 in scoring, rebounding, field goal percentage and blocked shots. He averages 16.9 points per game after scoring 5.0 ppg. last season as a junior.

Visser's senior year has been a model of consistency. He has shot 50 percent or better in 24 of 29 games, he scored at least 20 points nine different times and he has seven double-doubles. Visser has 489 points this season, more than he scored in his first three seasons combined.

The All-ACC first team consists of three unanimous selections - Boston College's Jared Dudley, North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough and Florida State's Al Thornton. Virginia's Sean Singletary and Virginia Tech's Zabian Dowdell round out the first team.

The second team includes Virginia's J.R. Reynolds, Maryland's D.J. Strawberry, Boston College's Tyrese Rice, Duke's Josh McRoberts and North Carolina freshman Brandan Wright.

Visser was joined on the third team by Georgia Tech freshman Javaris Crittenton, NC State rookie Brandon Costner, Virginia Tech senior Jamon Gordon and Jack McClinton of Miami.

Wake Forest begins play in the ACC Tournament Thursday night in Tampa against Georgia Tech.
