ATHENS, Ga. - The 27th-ranked Wake Forest doubles team of senior Ashlee Davis and junior Alexandra Hirsch fought a hard battle, but ultimately fell to Cal's fifth-ranked duo of Susie Babos and Zsuzsanna Fodor in three sets, 7-5, 6-7, 6-4 in the first round of the NCAA Individual Championships.

The Demon Deacon duo was leading 5-4 in the first set, but Babos and Fodor rallied to win 7-5. In the second set, Wake did some rallying of its own as Cal was on match point, 5-3, but Hirsch and Davis came from behind to win the second set in the tiebreaker. The Pac-10 doubles team of the year was able to keep their lead in the third set, winning 6-4 to advance in the tournament.

Hirsch and Davis were ranked in the Top 35 since April 17 and end the season with a 7-6 record.
