
Deacons Shutout Paladins in Road Scrimmage

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The third-ranked Wake Forest men's soccer team defeated Furman 2-0 in the schedule opening scrimmage Monday night in Greenville, S.C.
The Demon Deacons held the Paladins scoreless and limited the Furman offense to four shots per 45-minute half.
Junior Marcus Tracy and freshman Corben Bone notched both of WFU's goals and assists. Tracy landed a header in the 47th minute to get the Deacons on the board and Bone followed with a rocket in the 81st minute to complete the Wake Forest win.
Senior goalkeeper Brian Edwards registered two saves in the first half, while sophomore Akira Fitzgerald stepped in for the second half action. Overall, 22 deacons saw playing time and out shot the Paladins 13-8.
"It's good start to the season," Assistant Coach Carson Porter said. "We were happy to get these results against a good Furman team. We'll continue to answer questions and continue to shape the team in the pre-season stage."
