WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The second-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team will finish regular season action on the road at No. 14 Boston College on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 12 p.m. and Dartmouth on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m.
The Demon Deacons (15-2, 2-2) have won their last six contests, including last weekend's conference match at Virginia. Junior forward Hilary Moore leads the team with 14 goals, while senior forward Michelle Kasold holds a program-high mark of 23 assists.
The Eagles are 12-5 with a recent 3-1 road loss to No. 3 Syracuse. At home, Boston College holds a 7-1 record and in league play the Eagles are fifth in ACC standings with a 1-3 mark.
Looking ahead to the ACC tournament, Maryland has clinched the No. 1 seed and a first round bye with a 4-1 conference record. North Carolina has finished conference play with a 3-2 mark and since the Tar Heels defeated the third-place Deacons in the official conference matchup, they will likely clinch the two-seed and a first round bye due to the ACC tiebreaker policy.
The Demon Deacons have an opportunity to take the three-seed this weekend with a win over the Eagles. If the Deacons drop the match and the Blue Devils win their final conference match against Virginia then Duke will take the three-seed.
Regardless of Saturday's outcome, the Deacons will still end the regular season in Hanover, Mass. against Dartmouth. The Big Green is 5-9 and is led offensively by freshman Kelly Hood, who has posted nine goals and two assists.
