WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest men's tennis athletes Cory Parr and Steven Forman have been selected to compete at the ITA National Indoors Tournament, held November 6-9 at the University of Virginia.
Parr earned an automatic berth to the singles tournament when he advanced to the final round of the ITA Mideast Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C. two weeks ago. Parr and Forman, who were ranked second in the ITA preseason poll, earned an at-large selection to the doubles portion of the tournament.
Parr is ranked 24th and holds a 6-2 record for fall play this year, racking up most of his wins at the ITA Regional where he topped five opponents en route to the tournament finals.
Forman and Parr are 3-2 for 2008, recently falling in the quarterfinals of the Regional to eventual draw winners Sanam Singh and Houston Barrick of Virginia.
"You have to earn your way into this national event," Wake Forest Head Coach Jeff Zinn said. "And with the draws being so small, a 16-team draw for doubles and 32-person draw for singles, it's the elite of the elite."
The opening round of the doubles and singles draws will begin on Thursday, November 6 at the Boar's Head Sports Club in Charlottesville, Va. Results will be posted at ITATennis.com.
