WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The No. 3 Wake Forest Field Hockey team is headed to Evanston, Ill. to face Michigan State and Northwestern on Saturday and Sunday.

The Demon Deacons are 10-2 with a recent home win over Richmond on October 5. The Spartans are 11-1 and will first face Northwestern on Friday before taking on the Deacons Saturday afternoon. Michigan State's only loss this year has been against No. 2 Syracuse on September 7.

Northwestern is 6-7 with a recent 5-3 win over Missouri State.

Sunday's match with Northwestern will mark the first time Wake Forest has played the Wildcats in Evanston since Averill took over the head coach position in 1992. Averill lettered with Northwestern from 1984-87, playing in two Final Fours in addition to becoming a four-time All-American and earning the Honda Broderick Award, awarded to the nation's top field hockey player. Averill was inducted into the Northwestern Hall of Fame in 1996.

On October 15 the Deacs will return to Kentner Stadium to host Radford at 6 p.m., followed by the final regular season home contest on October 19 against California at 12 p.m.
