CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The second-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team defeated No. 14 Boston College 4-1 on Saturday, finishing conference play with a 3-2 record. On Sunday the Demon Deacons (16-2, 3-2) will play the final match of the regular season at Dartmouth beginning at 1 p.m.

Michelle Kasold scored the first goal in the opening ten minutes, marking the senior's seventh of the season. Hilary Moore stretched the Deacon lead to 2-0 in the 21st minute, converting on a penalty corner play, assisted by Raisa Schiller.

Boston College's Janna Actil scored her first goal of the season before the end of the first half to keep the Eagles close, but Wake Forest's Kim Romansky quickly countered to give the Deacons a 3-1 lead at the half.

Minou Gimbrere and Michelle Kasold teamed up for the final goal of the game to set the score at 4-1.

Despite the winning 3-goal margin, the teams were very even in the stat line. Boston College edged the Deacs in penalty corners 5-4, while Wake Forest held just a two-shot lead (9-7). Wake Forest goalkeeper Crystal Duffield proved to be a decisive factor in the contest, posting three saves to BC goalkeeper Julia Berkowitz's one save.

Following the final regular season game on Sunday, Wake Forest will begin play at the ACC Tournament on Thursday, November 6, held at Duke University.
