Deacons Produce Low Total Offense- Wake Forest produced just 191 yards of total offense on 56 plays against Boston College.
- The total yardage marked the lowest ever in the Jim Grobe Era.
- The previous low for offense output for a Jim Grobe team at Wake Forest was 193 yards vs. Miami in 2003. The Deacons lost that game 52-7.
- The Deacons' 56 offensive plays against the Eagles today was a season-low. The previous low was 60 plays in the Miami game.
Swank's Back
- Senior PK Sam Swank returned to action for the first time since the Navy game on Sept. 27. Swank, who suffered a strained quadriceps muscle in practice on Oct. 6, missed each of the previous six games.
- In his return today, Swank three PATs to tie the school record with 119 for his career. Swank has never missed a PAT in his career.
- Swank went 0-for-1 on field goal attempts, missing a 47-yard try in the fourth quarter.
- Wake used three kickers against BC as redshirt Shane Popham handled punting duties, while senior Andrew Wright handled the kickoffs.
Wake Scores Two Defensive Touchdowns
- Wake Forest scored two defensive touchdowns against Boston College today.
- Safety Kevin Patterson had a 15-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the second quarter.
- DE Kyle Wilber had a two-yard fumble return in the third quarter.
- It marked the first time that Wake Forest scored two defensive touchdowns in a game since the 2007 season opener at Boston College. In that game, Alphonso Smith had a 21-yard interception return for a score, and Chip Vaughn returned a fumble 38 yards for a touchdown.
Kevin Patterson Scores Second Defensive TD of Season
- Safety Kevin Patterson picked up a fumble by BC quarterback Dominique Davis out of mid-air and returned it 15 yards for a touchdown.
- It was Patterson's second defensive touchdown of the year. He had a 53-yard interception return against Virginia on Nov. 8.
- It was Wake Forest's second defensive touchdown of the season.
Wake Forest Defense Forces Three Turnovers
- The Deacon defense forced three turnovers on the day, all of which came on fumbles. It tied Wake's season high for fumble recoveries (at Baylor).
- In the first quarter, cornerback Alphonso Smith caused a fumble that was recovered by linebacker Aaron Curry.
- In the second quarter, Smith again forced a fumble that was picked out of the air and returned 15 yards for a touchdown by safety Kevin Patterson.
- In the third quarter, cornerback Brandon Ghee forced a fumble on a sack and DE Kyle Wilber scooped up the ball at the two-yard line and ran it in for a touchdown.
- Wake forest has now scored 97 points off 32 takeaways this season. Wake has 221 points on the season.
Skinner Surpasses 2,000-Yard Passing For Season
- Quarterback Riley Skinner completed 14 of 28 passes for 126 yards.
- Skinner now has 2,008 passing yards on the 2008 season, marking the third straight season he has eclipsed the 2,000-yard mark
- For his career, Skinner has 6,259 passing yards which ranks fourth all-time at Wake Forest.
Matt Robinson Collects Sack To Move Up Career List
- Matt Robinson's sack of BC quarterback Chris Crane on BC's first possession of the game marked the 12th career sack for Robinson. Robinson moved into a tie for seventh place on the Wake Forest list for career sacks.
Wake Forest Approaches Season Attendance Record
- Today's attendance at BB&T Field was 30,373. That brings the season total for six games to 195,680.
- That is the second-highest season total in school history. The season record is 197,911 set in 2003. At least 2,232 fans need to attend the Vanderbilt game for Wake Forest to break the season attendance record.
Miscellaneous Notes
- Wake Forest's game captains were LB Aaron Curry and WR D.J. Boldin.
- Boston College's Steve Aponavicius made all three of his field goals. Wake's opponents are 14 of 17 in field goal attempts this season.
- Wake Forest's second half TD is its first since the Duke game on Nov. 1.
- Wake is 10-31 (2-5 this year) when scoring less than 24 points.
- Since the start of the 2006 season, Wake is 11-6 in games decided by 7 points or fewer (3-4 this year).
- Redshirt freshman DE Kyle Wilber had a career-high eight tackles, while senior DE Antonio Wilson had a career-best four tackles.
- The Deacons had their seven-game winning streak when wearing all-black uniforms snapped. The streak dated back to the Maryland game in 2007.
With the Wake Forest Loss
- The Deacons are 6-5 overall, 4-4 in the ACC.
- Wake Forest's streak of eight straight home ACC wins is snapped.
- This is Boston College's first win in Winston-Salem after losses in 2006 and 2004 and a tie in 1950.
- Boston College has an 8-6-2 advantage in the series.
- Wake Forest's streak of seven straight wins wearing all black uniforms came to an end.
