RALEIGH, N.C. - The No. 32 Wake Forest women's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 15 North Carolina on Saturday and 5-2 to NC State on Sunday to wrap up the regular season road schedule.
Sasha Kulikova and Aileen Davis had the only wins of the road outing for the Demon Deacons (8-10, 4-5). On Sunday, Kulikova topped NC State's Daria Petrovic in a quick 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 1, while Davis took Catherine Grotz through three sets, finishing with a 12-10 super tiebreaker decision.
In the opening contest against the Tar Heels, Sierra Poske was forced to forfeit the No. 1 doubles match with partner Kulikova after she suffered a minor injury during play. Poske was unable to return to action for the rest of the weekend and, with no available players off the bench, Wake had to give up a singles match in Chapel Hill and a doubles and singles contest in Raleigh.
Wake Forest will have just a few days to recover before it hosts the final matches of the regular season, beginning Friday, April 11 with No. 18 Florida State and finishing Sunday with No. 11 Miami.
