Wake Forest Head Coach Rick Rembielak
On the night against UNC Stater Matt Harvey...
"Obviously he had all his pitches going for him tonight. We helped him out by swinging at some pitches out of the strike zone. I mean, he is a good pitcher and we knew what he was going to bring to the table. We had to stick to a game plan and he got us out of that by making us chase some pitches out of the zone. Against something like that, it's going to be very difficult to come out successful."
On the game...
"Both guys threw outstanding games. Charlie (Mellies) left one pitch up that broke him there. Our guys need to battle a little more. I was disappointed with the way we approached it there after the first couple innings. All the credit goes to their guy with the way he threw."
On Charlie's game...
"Charlie had pitched extremely well in his last three outings. It was his swan-song, his last game and he's very competitive and composed. He was in command of everything he threw and there was no way he was going to come out of this game."
On preparing the team for a 10 o'clock game...
"It's a challenge. You're playing the No.1 team in the nation tonight and the best teams in the country all week. You just have to minimize the distractions if there are any. It's tough for both teams and you can't make any excuses at this point in the season."
Redshirt Senior RHP Charlie Mellies
On his success in the last few outings...
"I just started throwing my fastball a little more. Coming off arm surgery, I wanted to see if my arm was coming back with the velocity but I just tried to take a little bit off and locate the fastball a little more."
On throwing against Harvey...
"I find it easier to throw when you're on a roll and the other guy is working just as quickly. It wasn't like I had long innings. There was one pitch that I just didn't execute on and that was the ballgame."
North Carolina Head Coach Mike Fox
On Matt Harvey's performance...
"Matt was sensational tonight and you can see why he was so highly touted out of high school. He's been like that for us through the year just small stretches...an inning here, or three or four innings there and then he's lost command of his fastball but, tonight he was from the first inning on through the eighth, he had great control and his change up was good early and he was sensational tonight."
On getting a team ready to play as late as 10 pm...
"We go, go, go during the regular season so the sitting around the hotel is something new for them. You don't know how you kids handle it. I think they're enjoying it but then you wonder if they're ready. We have to be ready to play when they say and both teams are doing the same thing."
North Carolina Freshman RHP Matt Harvey
On his performance...
"I was able to get ahead with the fast ball, that definitely helped me setting up the other pitches. I just tried to go out there and do something I hadn't done since the beginning of the season...just go out there and give our fielders a chance to field and luckily it was working pretty well."
On being in the zone...
"You just have to stay focused and keep everything you have from the beginning of the game. It's a lot of fun going out there but it also takes a lot out of you. Definitely staying mentally focused is something you have to stay concentrated on."
