Kulikova, Tara Post Ranked Wins at Bulldog Invite

ATHENS, Ga. - Sasha Kulikova and Christian Tara both notched singles wins over ranked opponents in the first tournament of the 2008 fall season during weekend play at the University of Georgia.
In the first day of action, No. 50 Kulikova upset UGA's Yvette Hyndman, ranked 33rd by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Kulikova took a quick 6-2, 6-2 win to open play for the tournament.
Christian Tara defeated Texas Christian's Ana Sydorska on Sunday, posting a 6-2, 6-1 win over the 95th-ranked competitor.
Wake Forest sophomore Emilee Malvehy also notched a win in the tournament, taking down Indiana's Sigrid Fisher in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 6-0).
In doubles play, Sierra Poske and Christian Tara defeated UGA's Cameron Ellis/Naoko Ueshima pair 8-5, while Sasha Kulikova and Emilee Malvehy topped Mississippi's Karen Njissen/Kristi Boxx 9-7.
Next up for Wake Forest will be the ITA All-American Qualifying Tournament. The Deacons will send Sasha Kulikova to Los Angeles to represent the team.
