DAVIDSON, N.C. - The top-ranked Wake Forest field hockey team defeated Davidson 4-1 on Sunday afternoon, extending the squad's undefeated record to 8-0.
Wake Forest (8-0, 1-0) scored all four goals during the first half, out-shooting the Wildcats (2-6, 0-1) 8-1 during the opening 35 minutes. Raisa Schiller was the first to strike, converting on a penalty corner just three minutes into regulation. Michelle Kasold and Melissa Martin assisted on the play.
Junior back Aileen Davis added two goals for the Demon Deacons, the first at five minute mark, putting in a deflected shot from Liz Fries. Davis added a second goal with a little over six minutes left in the first half, teaming up with Kasold and Minou Gimbrere to convert on a penalty corner.
Freshman Faith Adams scored her first collegiate goal just under 25 minutes into the first half, picking up a pass from Gimbrere.
The Deacons will return to their home site at Kentner Stadium to host the second-ranked Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, September 27. The match will begin at 12 p.m.
