Wake Forest 4 Maryland 2 - Final
The Deacons come into College Park in front of a school-record crowd of 6500 at Ludwig Field and defeat Maryland 4-2. Two goals in the first 15 minutes of the half prove the difference. Thanks for joining us tonight and Go Deacs!

Wake Forest 4 Maryland 2 - 7:00 left in the second half
We're in the final minutes of the game. Maryland had a corner kick, the sixth of the night for the Terrapins, but were unable to convert. Other than that, no scares for Akira Fitzgerald.

Wake Forest 4 Maryland 2 - 12:00 left in the second half
Maryland narrowly missed cutting the lead to one with 15 minutes remaining in the game. Casey Townsend fired a shot from the left side of the box to the far post. Akira Fitzgerald got a hand on the ball, sending it off the right post and away. A sense of urgency from Maryland with the game heading toward the final 10 minutes of regulation.

Wake Forest 4 Maryland 2 - 16:00 left in the second half
Nearing the latter stages of the game, Wake Forest leads 4-2. Neither team has had a good scoring chance in the last few minutes, although most of the action has been on the Wake Forest side of the field.

Wake is holding on to a two-goal lead as we near the midpoint of the second half. The rain has been intermittent throughout the second half. Right now, light rain is falling. Wake has narrowed the shot advantage, now only trailing by two, 12-10.

Wake has extended its lead to two with just under 32 minutes remaining in the game. Austin da Luz scored from the left side of the box, beating the keeper on the right side. The goal for da Luz was his second of the season.

Wake Forest 3 Maryland 2 - 34:00 left in the second half
The Deacons still hold a one-goal advantage, 11 minutes into the second stanza. It appeared the Maryland had tied the game with about 34:30 remaining, but the far linesman ruled the play offside, negating the goal.

Wake has the lead for the first time on the night. Michael Lahoud crossed the ball to Austin da Luz on the left side of the box. Da Luz played the ball to a streaking Zack Schilawski, who scored his second goal of the season,

The first 45 minutes are complete from Ludwig Field with the score even at two. The rain continues to fall. There have been some flashes of lightning in the area, but the game has continued without interruption. Some halftime stats for your enjoyment.

We're back where we started once again. Danny Wenzel played a beautiful ball from about seven yards past the midfield stripe. The ball found Ike Opara inside the 18-yard box. Opara headed the ball over the right shoulder of the keeper to even the match at two. The goal was Opara's second of the season.

Weather starting to get worse in College Park. The PA announcer just made an announcement that a severe thunderstorm was on the way to the area. At this point, fans are not being forced to evacuate the stadium. The rain has started to pick up in intensity.

Maryland 2 Wake Forest 1 - 16:44 left in the first half
The Terrapins have regained the lead with 16:44 remaining in the first half. Casey Townsend scored from just outside the six-yard box to give Maryland a 2-1 advantage.

Much of the recent action has been played in the midfield. No quality scoring chances for either team. In fact, neither team has attempted a shot since the last update.

Maryland 1 Wake Forest 1 - 31:00 left in the first half
Things have calmed down a little after a furious start to the game. Maryland had three corner kicks in the span of about a minute, but were unable to capitalize on any of the attempts. Maryland owns an early edge in shots at 6-2 and have taken three corners while the Deacons have yet to attempt one.

And the Deacs have evened it up. Sam Cronin played a pass to Marcus Tracy on the right side of the box. Tracy sent a right-footed shot into the upper part of the net to even the score.

Maryland 1 Wake Forest 0 - 44:10 left in the first half
Maryland strikes first, only 50 seconds in the game. Rodney Wallace played a cross to Jason Herrick, who headed the ball into the net from eight yards out. Time for the Deacs to play catchup. They fell behind early at UCSB, but scored five straight goals en route to the win.

Pregame - 7:16 p.m.

We're about 45 minutes from first touch here at Ludwig field in College Park. Both teams are on the field warming up. It's a white-out tonight at Maryland as most of the fans in the stands are dressed in white. The Terrapins will also don white jerseys for the game tonight.

A light rain is falling at this moment. Most of the day was dry, but the rain started about an hour before game time. The field appears to be in good shape at this moment.
