WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's basketball team will host Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Boston College at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Fans will receive free admission to the game with two or more canned food donations.
Demon Deacon senior Corinne Groves will be recognized before tip-off for her entry into Wake Forest's 1,000 point club. The forward from Black Mountain, N.C. hit the mark on January 8 against the Maryland Terrpains, becoming the 16th Demon Deacon to net 1,000 career points and the first player to achieve the milestone since 2006.
The Demon Deacons (12-3, 0-2) are returning to their home at the Joel Coliseum after a tough road trip that included the team's first loss of the season at Richmond. The Deacs then dropped conference contests at Maryland and Virginia.
Boston College (13-3, 2-0) opened conference season with a pair of wins, defeating Georgia Tech in Atlanta and Virginia Tech in Chestnut Hill. Mikel Picco leads the team in scoring with just over 17 points per game and Carolyn Swords is the leading rebounder with an 8.5 average.
The Demon Deacons are 0-3 against the Eagles since the series began and Thursday will be only the second time Wake Forest has hosted BC.
On Sunday Wake Forest continues ACC play at the Joel Coliseum with Clemson at 3 p.m.
