Main Draw Singles Begins Friday in ITA Carolina Regionals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Eight winners advanced out of the qualifying round of singles during the opening day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Carolina Regionals in Winston-Salem. Play in main draw singles will begin on Friday, October 23.
Diana Mortlock of NC State, Giovanna Portioli of Winthrop, Linzee Mabrey of UNC, Carolina Magnusson of Clemson, Haley Hemm of UNC, Ioana Oprea of Gardner-Webb, Jennifer Stone of UNC and Jocelyn Ffriend of UNC all earned a spot in main draw singles after winning twice in the qualifying draw.
The opening doubles round of 64 began Thursday afternoon. Play will continue on Friday at 8 a.m. with the round of 32. For complete doubles results, please check out the tournament draws.
Wake Forest had two doubles teams advance to the round of 32. Katarina Reveche and Ryann Cutillo topped Winston-Salem State's Johanna Nunes and Bianka Locklear 8-0 while Emilee Malvehy and Kathryn Talbert also took an 8-0 win over UNC Wilmington's Lauren Fuenning and Lindsay Leblang.
Cutillo and Reveche will open play on Friday with UNC's Jennifer Stone and Jelena Durisic, who received a first round bye. Malvehy and Talbert will face 3-seed UNC tandem of Katrina Tsang/Shinann Featherston. Sasha Kulikova and Martina Pavelec received an opening round bye and will start play on Friday with Ashley Miller and Berkeley Brock of NC State.
