Pavelec to Play in Quarterfinals of ITA Carolina Regionals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest sophomore Martina Pavelec topped Duke's Monica Gorny 6-4, 7-5 in the Round of 16 in main draw singles to clinch a spot in the quarterfinals of the ITA Carolina Regionals. Pavelec will now face South Carolina's third-seeded Anna Zubori at 10:30 a.m.
Other competitors in the singles quarterfinals include top-seeded Sanaz Marand (UNC), six-seed Reka Zsilinszka (Duke), Clemson's Nelly Ciolkowski, who upset UNC's seven-seed Katrina Tsang in the Round of 16, 9-16 seed Ina Hadziselimovic (Clemson), 9-16 seed Sandhya Nagaraj (NC State) and two-seeded Josipa Bek.
Play in doubles semifinal will begin on Sunday. Top-seeded Sophie Grabinski and Sanaz Marand of UNC will play four-seed Ellah Nze and Amanda Granson of Duke, and five-seed Liz Plotkin and Reka Zsilinszka of Duke will face Clemson's two-seeded team of Josipa Bek and Ina Hadziselimovic.
