
Rosters Announced for Black & Gold World Series

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Rosters for the five-game Black & Gold World Series were released on Saturday morning, as announced by head coach Tom Walter.
The series begins Sunday with a noon first pitch. Game two will be held Friday, October 30, at 4 p.m., while game three is slated for Sunday, November 1, at noon. The final two games of the series will be held the following weekend with game four on Saturday, November 7 at noon, and game five on Sunday, November 8, also at noon.
All games of the series will be played at Wake Forest Baseball Park and are free and open to the public.
The black team, which will be managed by assistant coach Bill Cilento, is led by senior catcher Mike Murray. Murray hit .306 with six home runs and 37 RBIs in his junior year. He is coming off a summer that saw him hit .347 and earn All-Cape Cod League honors with the Chatham Anglers.
Other position players on the black team include junior outfielder Steven Brooks, who batted .313 with five homers and 30 RBIs in 2009 and sophomore infielder Shane Kroker, who hit .261 with two round-trippers and 21 RBIs in his rookie year.
The pitcher staff for the black team includes sophomore Michael Dimock. Dimock struck out a team-leading 51 batters in 2009 and had a 4-4 record with 6.46 ERA in 21 games. Matt Conway, Gabe Feldman, Brandon Johnson, Ryan McGrath and Alex Wiesner will also pitch for the black squad.
The gold team will be managed by assistant coach Grant Achilles. The gold is led by sophomore Austin Stadler, who hit .279 with two homers and 24 RBIs in 2009. Redshirt junior outfielder Ryan Semeniuk and sophomore infielder Bentley Heyman are also among the returning players that will play for the gold team.
Stadler will also be on the mound for the gold squad. Stadler pitched in 13 games, including nine starts, in his freshman season and had a 4-5 record with a 4.13 ERA. Juniors Mark Adzick and Ryan Bouton will also toe the rubber for the gold team.
The gold pitching staff also includes a trio of rookies. Tim Cooney, Niko Spezial and Justin Van Grouw are all scheduled to pitch for the gold team.
Sophomore reliever Zach White will be the closer for both teams. White had a 4-1 record with a team-best 3.32 ERA in his freshman season. He also had a team-leading three saves. White held opponents to just a .237 batting average in 38 innings of work.
