ITA Carolina Regionals Concludes Monday with Doubles, Singles Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 2009 ITA Carolina Regionals will conclude on Monday with the singles and doubles finals. The winners from each draw will advance to the ITA National Indoors Championships, held at Yale University November 5-8.
On the doubles side, the top two seeds will battle for the title. No. 1 seed of Sanaz Marand and Sophie Grabinski from UNC will play Clemson's 2-seed Josipa Bek/Ina Hadziselimovic duo at 10 a.m.
Josipa Bek will also be participating in the singles final. The second-seeded Tiger competitor will face 6-seed Reka Zsilinszka from Duke at 11:30 a.m. Bek, a sophomore, is the defending regional singles champion.
Martina Pavelec was the last remaining player for Wake Forest. She advanced to the quarterfinals before bowing out to South Carolina's Anna Zubori, ranked 21st in the ITA Fall poll, with a 6-3, 6-7, 7-3 loss.
